6 month design internships

Position Summary:

IDEO helps companies innovate. We design products, services, environments, and digital experiences for organizations seeking new ways to provide value for their customers. IDEO creates visible and tangible strategies for innovation and executes all aspects of design and development, from conception through production.

IDEO Munich is looking for talented design interns that can see the strategic side of design. You should be able to develop strong solutions as well as demonstrate conceptual design thinking and storytelling skills.

Our internships are open to students, who are still studying a Degree or equivalent in design or related field. We offer 2 internship periods starting around March and September per year with interviews beginning 3 months earlier. Applications for September 2009 are no longer possible.

English language skills are required, German Language skills are a plus.

Please upload your design portfolio (PDF or PPT SMALLER THAN 10Mb) demonstrating the following:
• A proven sensitivity towards users.
• A strong personal point of view about design and design thinking.
• A deep understanding and appreciation of aesthetics, articulated clearly and concisely.
• A good technical proficiency (competent in 3D CAD, 2 & 3D design visualization, Adobe suite etc.)
• The ability to…
     - Gather and translate research data into powerful concise design solutions.
     - Tell a compelling story (and understand that sometimes the story is as important as the object itself).
     - Prototype in 3 dimensions and to not be afraid of getting your hands dirty in doing so.
     - Communicate ideas and design concepts effectively.
     - Adapt your style to suit the clients’ needs.
